Detroit area auto dealerships have sponsored and hosted an annual auto show nearly every year since 1907, naturally. 1965 marked the Detroit Auto Show’s first year at Cobo Exhibition Center, and in 1989 it became known as the North American International Auto Show. Detroit’s North American International Auto Show occurs in mid-January and draws nearly three-quarters of a million visitors annually.
