Dequindre Cut Greenway Graffiti

Dequindre Cut Graffiti 2011 13All of the graffiti in this post’s album are located along the newly completed “Dequindre Cut Greenway” on the near east side of Detroit. This one-time railroad trench between Orleans & St. Aubin runs from Woodbridge Street to Eastern Market, and was recently converted to a bike path by the city. The northern extremes of the Cut are fenced off, but numerous passable breaks in the fence line seem to invite the brave into a slightly sketchy no man’s land. For the safety’s sake, I Love Detroit Michigan recommends its readers travel only in groups beyond this point should they choose to make such a foray. Seasoned and rookie urban explorers alike will not be disappointed if they do. Countless one-of-a-kind masterpieces of street art await the daring, and perhaps a transient or two, so keep your eyes open and bring spare change for bribes. In spite of the city’s numerous recent scandals, failures and embarrassments, we gotta give ’em props for this: NOT attempting to sandblast or paint over a single one of these treasures of Detroit’s underground culture. DETROIT 4-EVA! ~I♥DM
