Vintage Detroit Graffiti at Michigan Avenue and 14th Street

Detroit Graffiti at Michigan and 14th 12Back in the Fall of 2009 I Love Detroit Michigan discovered a frequently re-used site for Detroit graffiti artists at Michigan Avenue & 14th Street, under the looming shadow of the infamously vacant and dilapidated Michigan Central Railway Station Hotel.  It was shortly after Saint Patrick’s Day Detroit Graffiti at Michigan and 14th 92010 when we first noticed a new group of works here, in the theme of the season. Now we drive by on the regular, to see what’s been added or painted over since our last visit. One of our favorite local graffiti artists, “Sintex”, seems to add a new piece to these walls at least twice a year. Detroit Graffiti at Michigan and 14th 1Evidence seems to indicate there’s a gallery of some sort inside the building, but we’ve never made the effort to find out for sure. Round the corner to find Kobie Solomon‘s “Corktown” mural, which celebrates the history of Detroit’s oldest neighborhood. Check out two other great pieces by “Sintex” and Solomon here (pics #12 and #13 in the album)…. and since you’re right there, do yourself a huge favor and try to find this classic work of sarcasm in the immediate environs. Get yourself a nice pic and rake in the laughs. Happy hunting. ~I♥DM
