MAD DECENT BLOCK PARTY – Friday, September 6th, 2013 in Pontiac!

Dillon Francis at Movement 2012Finish your summer off disgustingly right at the upcoming Mad Decent Block Party, to be held at the Elektricity Festival Grounds, 10 South Saginaw Street in downtown Pontiac, next Friday night, featuring the ear-ripping sounds of Movement 2012 veterans Major Lazer and Dillon Francis! True Detroiters, however, will be the most excited to see homegrown rap superstar, Danny Brown, taking the stage for what ought to be an ultra-triumphant homecoming. Notorious “Harlem Major Lazer at Movement 2012 1Shake” composer, Baauer, English “drumstep” pioneer, Skream, the innovative Toronto-based trio, Keys N Krates, and the gritty, soulful L.A.-based DJ/Producer, Samo Sound Boy, fill out this righteously lengthy bill of modern, urban-electronic sounds. We here at I Love Detroit Michigan fully endorse this stellar line-up, but for the more skeptical hipsters, we’ve taken the liberty of compiling here, for your listening pleasure, an impressive collection of online posts featuring works by each of the aforementioned acts:

1. “Major Lazer Workout Mix: Potato Mix Series – Episode #5”. This video encapsulates the diverse track selection and style of mixing we expect to hear from Diplo and crew come Friday night.

2. Three Videos – “Radio Song”, “Monopoly” and “Grown Up”, all by Danny Brown.

3. Full length, 35-minute video featuring Volume #4 of Danny Brown’s classic “Detroit State of Mind” mixtape series.

4. “I.D.G.A.F.O.S.” by Dillon Francis. One of our all-time favorite favorite dub-step tracks; dual-use; good for both listening to and laughing along with.

5. “Live For The Funk presents Baauer”, a tasty 30-minute sampling of the Baauer sound.

6. A dated but sickening 2-hour dub-step “Essential Mix” by Skream, from 2007.

7. “Treat Me Right” by Keys N Krates. If you can’t feel this one there’s somethin’ wrong wit’ ya…with an exceptionally imaginative video to boot.

8. A deep, chunky and proper 38-minute DJ mix by Samo Sound Boy, recorded live at L.A.’s Boiler Room in 2012.
